Experience
I have a current level 4 (through calculus) math teaching license for Utah. I have experience teaching in a classroom as well as tutoring both groups and privately. Here are a few of my past job experiences: -Vista Heights Middle School, Sec 1 math teacher, 2015-2016 -Springville Junior High School, Pre-Algebra teacher, 2011-2012 -Private tutor, 2010-2011 -UVU Gear Up scholarship program, High School tutor, ACT prep, 2008-2011 I love helping students understand math and gain confidence and opportunity in their lives. With years of experience tutoring and teaching in the public school, I have developed methods to assess each student and truly tailor instruction to the individual. I am fully competent in teaching any mathematics through calculus and have a great enthusiasm to share. Helping students understand the importance and relevance of the mathematics is something I do well so that students will have a good attitude and give their best efforts. I also put a lot of emphasis on building a professional relationship of trust and care so that each student can feel comfortable trying, taking risks, and asking questions. At my in-home studio, I have many tools, technology, and manipulative to help students visualize and to make math come alive. Students can come there for an affordable rate, or I can travel to students for a bit extra.

Hobbies
I am a mother of (almost) three children and enjoy spending most of my time at home with them and doing fun things as a family. I am a big outdoors enthusiast; I love camping, hiking, fishing, boating, etc... I am also a baker and crafter. I bake and decorate professional cakes, known as 'Angel Cakes'. I also love to sew and sing. I grew up in a very, very small mountain town in Utah where I had the opportunity to serve in many leadership roles. In high school I was FBLA state reporter, freshman and senior class president, cheerleading captain, in 4 school plays including the role of Cinderella in the production of "into the Woods", FFA chapter secretary, young women's class president, track and field participant, high honor roll, national honor society, President's education award recipient, and several other clubs and awards. During high school, I held a job as a sales clerk and fishing expert in the local fly fishing shop and later worked as a tour guide at the Flaming Gorge Dam for a couple years. I have always enjoyed trying my hand at many different hobbies. After high school, I attended Brigham young University where I gained a love for many things including the school, God, my current husband, education, and math. During my time there, my mother passed away from a tough battle with cancer, which I believe has left me with more compassion and sympathy for other people and the inner struggles they deal with. I come from a large family, raised in humble circumstances. I have one sister with a learning disability who is one of my very best friends in the world. Being so close to her and helping her in whatever ways I can, has also given me sensitivity, patience and skills to help those with learning challenges. I love being an educator; I find it the most rewarding career out there. I would be overjoyed to help any student discover their own potential and gain competence in math!
